Quilts from Beth from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Boy, did I get a big surprise on my porch!

Beth had told me a couple times she was sending me some finished quilts.  Then time would get away from her and they never actually made it to the post office.  Her last email said she finally sent a box and she thought there were about 6 finished quilts in the box.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box!

(You might want to get comfortable because I have a lot of photos to share...)

Let's start off strong with this stunner.  It practically glows!

I am also ...

Fridays are for Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Happy Friday!

I am celebrating a bit because I actually put out a few posts this week.  It is getting harder and harder to accomplish this with all the other things I have been doing for MHMH.  If you are planning on retiring soon, don't start a non-profit!

(I am joking of course - but you do work a lot!)

A few months back, Sharon sent us a big stack of small quilt tops.  We have been slowly working through them.  This little Winnie the Pooh quilt is a favorite of mine.  I had an older Winnie the Pooh print ...

Parade of Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I hope those of you in the US had a nice holiday weekend.  I spent some time getting the "MHMH warehouse" organized. It is really just a 10' square room that holds most of our fabric and quilts.  Needless to say, it can become quite chaotic in there!

Mari sent in this lovely floral quilt top.  If I remember correctly, she also sent in a larger quilt using some of the same fabrics.  This one may have been made from the leftovers.  Mari also sent in this backing fabric and the binding.

Here is a fun scrappy quilt.  Elizabeth sent ...

Mid Week Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have a few minutes so I thought I would share a handful more quilts that crossed the finish line.  All of these quilts were made from donated quilt tops.

Carol donated this fun wildlife quilt top.  I love how she used the strips of the little animals that sometime come with panels. I also like how she staggered her animal placements.  We decided to back this quilt with some flannel.  The dark green was sent in by Stephanie and we had a bit of flannel with deer on it that was the perfect size for making the backing wide ...

Land of Enchantment from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

As much as I will always be a Texas girl, I have to admit that New Mexico has a special place in my heart. It's where DH and I began our journey as a married couple. It's where our son was born. It's where the good Lord has set us for the second time. It's home. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular on a regular basis.  The food is addictive and don't even get me started on how much I

Hearts and Veterans from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

A few finishes to share today...

Here is another heart quilt made from the low volume 9-patch blocks.  We didn't get a lot of these blocks so I have been limiting the finishing of these so each shipment gets one until they are all gone.  local quilter Terry quilted this one up.  And the lovely backing fabric was sent in by Jean.  I am going to be sad when these blocks are all used.

Maybe it will have to be a future Sew Day block.

I don't think I ever shared this lovely RWB scrappy quilt.  It has ...

Some Oldies but Goodies from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Some of these quilts have been hanging around a long time.  It is nice to see them finally crossing the finish line and getting sent out to do good work!

This lovely scrap quilt started out as some friendship blocks sent in by Priscilla.  I really wanted brown sashing so we waited a bit for some to finally show up.  Local volunteer Chris sewed up the top for us.  Then it went to board member Bev to be quilted.  Karen sent us the backing fabric.

It took a bit to finish but it was well worth the wait!

This quilt ...

Friday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is time to share a few more Many Hands and Many Hearts quilt finishes.

The pipeline is full so quilts march past the finish line daily.

Snowball and 9-Patch blocks - so simple but really makes a fantastic quilt. I also really like the scrappy border treatment.  So clever!  Thanks, Jean, for sending in the top.  On the back we put a nice cuddly flannel.

This fun dinosaur quilt is made from a top and backing sent in by Kristin.  Being a Stranger Things fan, I think the backing looks like demogorgons.  Once you see it you can't unsee ...

Finally, a finish from Elsie Quilts

This last few weeks has take a toll on my to-do list, but amazing how much the Lord has blessed me while I was down and out.

One quilt had me baffled for that time. My guild gave me blocks that sort of matched in style but not in content. The bigger one was a snow thing, the other two seemed more like spring or summer. However, here in Alberta, this really described our January. We had spells of spring warmth and a few days of blizzards and cold. No flowers but flower reminders. So I quilted it with snow ...

Finishes from Way Back! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been cleaning out the quilt photos from my phone and found a few I don't think I ever shared.
And they are definitely worth seeing!

I always forget how awesome a simple 4-Patch alternated with a fun novelty print can look.  This quilt is all about different sports.  Kristin made this one easy to finish - she sent in the top, backing and the binding!

Who doesn't want a dinosaur quilt!  This top, pieced backing and prepared binding was made by Kristin.  The dinosaurs on the back even glow in the dark!

This fun ocean themed quilt ...

Some Veteran Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Right now, demand for Veteran quilts is only about three a month.  That means we don't get into using blocks from our drives very much.  The Veteran tops that get donated usually fulfill our needs.

This pretty string quilt top was sent in by Elana some time ago.  We also regularly get 10.5" string blocks from donors, so we regularly sew up quilt tops from them.
I am in the works of sewing one up now.

I just love a bright, happy string quilt!

Karen had sent us a bunch of RWB pre-cuts.  I sent a layercake to ...

Sue’s Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been very bad at sharing finished quilts lately.  Sorry.  Writing blog posts are usually one of the last things I do every day and when 9pm rolls around and I haven't gotten to it yet, I tend to push it off until the next day.  And that seems to be happening more and more.

So, I am going to try and move my daily schedule around to see if that works...

Today, I want to share a shipment of finished quilts we received from Sue.  These all arrived late last year and have all been delivered - but ...

Time to share some Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is way past time to share some of the finishes that were delivered in late 2025.

This sweet little patchwork quilt top was sent in by Vicki.  I think a charm pack was used.  Nancy sent in the double wedding ring "cheater" fabric which looked amazing with it.

Sue sent in this lovely quilt top.  I always call this a Twister block, but I don't know it's real name.  It looks fantastic in these solid fabrics.  Karen sent in this backing fabric and local quilter Laura stitched on a bunch of butterflies.

Here is a fun quilt ...

Oh Scrap! : Strings from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I hope all of you survived the holiday.  Arthur is back to his cheeky self and we just spent Christmas goofing off.  It was quiet and relaxing.  Just what I needed!

I am spending the end of December cleaning, organizing and planning for the new year.
So not a lot of sewing right now.

But I did want to share a bunch of fun string quilts that made it across the finish line.  I think Elana sent us these blocks a long time ago.  I handed them off to our new board member Karen with some black fabric sent in ...

A Big Littles Show from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have finally found a bit of time to sit down and write a blog post.  Sorry it has been so long since I have shared some finishes.  It is going to be all about small quilts today.

This project came from a local estate sale.  In amongst some fabrics were some whole and some partial blocks.  I couldn't toss them so I made this little quilt top.  It was kind of small so I added a dark blue border.  I also added this dark blue backing fabric that Dorothy sent.
It has the words Sweet Dreams on it ...

Hashtag Christmas from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

When I saw this pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew, I immediately thought it would make a great scrappy Christmas quilt.I made a different scrappy Christmas quilt in 2018 And I thought it was time to make another and hopefully whittle down my Christmas fabrics a little.I like that the pieces in this block are big enough to show the fabrics. The white is a white on white print from my fabric pantry

Oh Scrap! : Not my Work from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been working on my flannel blocks this past week but I haven't taken any photos.  I realized today that not only do I need to get the newsletter out, but I also need to write up the instructions and release the next block drive. So, I am taking an easy way out and sharing someone else's scrappy quilt.

Pam is currently our board secretary.  She made a bunch of Tula Pink quilts for her granddaughters. All those quilts generated a lot of scraps.  She has been using them to make quilts for Many Hands and Many ...

The Quilts Keep Coming! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I hope all of you who celebrate, had a nice Thanksgiving.  Arthur and I enjoyed a quiet day snuggling on the sofa streaming Stranger Things from the beginning.
It was nice to relax....

Still looking through my older photos finding pictures of quilts I haven't shared yet.  This fabulous RWB quilt top came from Joni.  I think she also sent in the backing.  We have been scouring all the quilt tops we have to get all the patriotic ones done so we can start putting together tops from our RWB block drive. I have volunteers sorting them into color ...

Finally, Some Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Janet and I have both been sick so we haven't had too many chances to take photos.  I scoured all my photos and records and discovered some quilts that missed getting posted to the blog.

Time to share a few!

Here is a fun one for the dog lovers.  Kristin sent in the quilt top, the backing and the binding.  Local quilter Cindy quilted it with loops and little paw prints.  If I remember correctly, the backing fabric is flannel, so it is extra cuddly.

Kristin sent in this little cutie also.  My guess it is one of those ...

Elizabeth's Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am WAY behind in posting photos and getting out receipts for items we have received in the mail.  My porch has been a busy place in the last few weeks and I haven't done a great job of keeping up.

With our craft sale event and today's board meeting all complete, I am hoping I can get caught up this week.  Who knew a tiny quilt nonprofit could grow so quickly!

Elizabeth has been a donor of ours for quite some time.  She has also been a great mentor to me because she has been on a ...
