What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

 This project started back in 2013 when I saw this quilt in this magazine.I made 1 block immediately And then started pulling fabricsThen, for whatever reason, it always ended up getting pushed aside, but I loved making the blocks whenever I would drag it back out. I enjoyed making them so much that I made more than the pattern called for so my quilt is bigger.It was fun to use up

I have lots of quilts to share with you today.  My plan was to make two posts this week but once again, I got busy.  So now they will all go on one long post.

Let's get started!

Here is a fun little sampler style quilt that we received.  Sadly, it is one that the maker's tag got lost.  I do know that the backing was donated by Kat and that local quilter Cindy finished it up for us.  This one makes me want to play with a bunch of orphan blocks.

 A friend of ours and his wife had their first baby a few months ago. He is an avid hunter and was our Safari Club chapter president for a few years. He's also the service manager at the Ford dealership and I laughed when we took our truck in last month for a recall issue and DH and he poured over maps of an area where DH drew a tag for an Orex in January before they even checked in the

 Sorry, it has been so long since my last post.  I think I even missed an Oh Scrap! along the way.  I have just been so busy, I have to pick and choose what I have time for.

I have a bit of time this evening so I thought I would share a few kid quilts that went out way back in March. (Yes, I am that far behind in sharing finishes!)

Last year I spent a few days cutting down my scrap basket for 2 quilts from this bookI finished the first one back in March. You can see that post HEREAnd this is the second, little sister, quilt. I didn't really do any scrap quilting this week so I guess you will have to settle on seeing some scrappy quilt tops sent in by others.

 Today I've got a flannel rag quilt finish to share.Yes, it's July. Yes, it's hot. Yes, a flannel quilt in summer makes no sense. Yes, that's how I roll.

 I am really trying to make it a priority to share all the finished quilts to date.  I got a bit behind this winter and now my notebook is a mess.  I hope to clear that up by the end of the year.

Earlier this spring I dug into my flannel bin, determined to clean it out and get the 15-30 year old fabric into quilts. I posted about the project HERE.This is the first of those quilts...Leap FrogThe tan, speckled fabric isn't flannel, it's cotton, but it was perfect so I just threw it in.Such a simple design - no pattern - I just tried to make the best use out of what I had. It finishes at 56"

 Boy, did I get a big surprise on my porch!

Beth had told me a couple times she was sending me some finished quilts.  Then time would get away from her and they never actually made it to the post office.  Her last email said she finally sent a box and she thought there were about 6 finished quilts in the box.  

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box!

I am celebrating a bit because I actually put out a few posts this week.  It is getting harder and harder to accomplish this with all the other things I have been doing for MHMH.  If you are planning on retiring soon, don't start a non-profit!

(I am joking of course - but you do work a lot!)

I hope those of you in the US had a nice holiday weekend.  I spent some time getting the "MHMH warehouse" organized. It is really just a 10' square room that holds most of our fabric and quilts.  Needless to say, it can become quite chaotic in there!

 I have a few minutes so I thought I would share a handful more quilts that crossed the finish line.  All of these quilts were made from donated quilt tops.

As much as I will always be a Texas girl, I have to admit that New Mexico has a special place in my heart. It's where DH and I began our journey as a married couple. It's where our son was born. It's where the good Lord has set us for the second time. It's home. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular on a regular basis.  The food is addictive and don't even get me started on how much I

 Some of these quilts have been hanging around a long time.  It is nice to see them finally crossing the finish line and getting sent out to do good work!

This lovely scrap quilt started out as some friendship blocks sent in by Priscilla.  I really wanted brown sashing so we waited a bit for some to finally show up.  Local volunteer Chris sewed up the top for us.  Then it went to board member Bev to be quilted.  Karen sent us the backing fabric.  

It took a bit to finish but it was well worth the wait!
