Friday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I realized late today that I had not written my Friday post.  And I have three lovely Veteran quilts to share today!

This first RWB Churn Dash quilt I put together.  I used some of the 6" blocks for the center and then framed it with the 12" blocks.  This is quilt #2 of this block drive.

It is hard to see the fabric on the back, but it is a red black and white homespun fabric I have had for quite some time.

This quilt measures 60 x 72".

Cheryl sent in this churn dash quilt top.  I love ...

The "Corn" Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

This is just a fun little quilt I made for our granddaughter for her birthday. She's crazy about Unicorns and calls them 'Corns' and thus the perfect opportunity to use this fabric was created. I didn't have any ideas past that so I just cut the panel squares and pulled coordinating fabrics from my stash and let that set on the design bed for a while, waiting for inspiration...Sigh.

Colorful! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I had a few more quilts to share but I guess I didn't get them photographed.  I have been so busy lately; I don't always get everything done by the end of the day.  But this pretty quilt top sent in by Amanda was just too colorful not to share today.

I am guessing this design uses a layercake.  It looks like the strips were cut at 3" and 4"wide.
The fabrics Amanda chose sure made a colorful and happy finish.

Local quilter Terry finished this one up for me.  I had sent a medium rosy pink ...

Adventure Lies Ahead Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Last year our boy and his sweet wife requested a couch quilt and when I saw this wide back print in September, it became my inspiration fabric and I built the quilt around itI pulled coordinating fabrics from my stash (one of my favorite parts of the quilting process)                              And cut

Mid Week Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Thanks to one of my local quilters, I have a few finishes to share today.

Yep, we are STILL working on the Happy Block quilts.  This dinosaur themed quilt is quilt #68.  The blocks for this quilt were laid out by a neighbor boy named Jackson - he is a specialist on dinosaurs, so he was the right man for the job!

Laura was kind enough to quilt this one up for me.  She used a new tool she ordered to make those wavy lines.  I think it looks great on this quilt.  She also sewed on the binding.

This quilt ...

Churn Dash 2024 Quilt #1 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is finally time to reveal the first Churn Dash quilt from this year’s block drive.

I received a big stack of the blue and white star squares.  They were 9.5".  I didn't want to cut them down, so I grabbed some of the 6" churn dash blocks and framed them in some red fabrics.  I was able to use some red scraps I had from some of last years' quilts.

I really like how this quilt turned out.

I continued the star theme right onto the back.
Even the striped binding has some little blue stars ...

Sneaking in some Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Before I dive into the current block drive for Many Hands and Many Hearts, I thought I would sneak in a few quilt tops made by others and then quilted by me.

This adorable monkey quilt has been hanging around for quite some time.  It was sent in by Josie and I just needed to find a backing for it.  I would think I found something to realize the piece was far too small.  Then it would get lost in the shuffle for a bit.

Then, just a week ago I came across this fabulous striped fabric that Nann sent ...

Log Cabin Finishes #14 and #15 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I think all of the log cabin blocks have arrived, so I have been working on finishing up the last few quilts.  I have two to share today.

Toward the end of the block drive, I started receiving a bunch of green blocks.  I always have a hard time mixing up different shades of green so making these big circles allowed me to keep them cohesive.  Staggering the circles helped too.

An all green quilt top deserves a pretty green backing.
Thanks to Nancy I had this lovely paisley piece.

This quilt measures 55" x 66".

My friends Audrey and ...

Buckaroo Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

I started planning this quilt back in May 2018. I started with this group of fabrics that I had bought online a few years earlier I pivoted to make this quilt {Buckaroo Cross} with them in 2020 and finished it first.and I then pulled other fabrics in from my stash to scrap this 2nd quilt up a bit. I used the 4 1/2" Accuquilt triangle die in order to make the best use of my

A Fistful of Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Quilts really fly through the pipeline when I have a few elves to help!

Today I have quite a few finished quilts to share.  There is a little bit of everything.

First, I will share some quilts made from or Happy Block drive.  We are still working away on those.

This Happy quilt is all about travelling the USA. It is the 66th quilt to be completed.

The backing is suer fun.  There is a small piece of fabric with all the national parks.  And the rest of the back is places in the PNW to visit.

This quilt measures ...

Let's Talk Shipping from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Before we talk shipping, I want to share another Happy Block finish.
Just so we have a pretty quilt to look at.

This is happy quilt #65 and it is all about dogs.  My friend Audrey helped me with this one.  She isn't a quilter, but she loves to lay out the blocks on the floor.  I think she did a great job!

On the back are some fun paw print and fun dog prints.  This quilt measures 48 x 56".

Now we can talk shipping...

I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs about shipping ...

Oh Scrap! : String Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

A few posts back, I was saying that I was going to be one Veteran quilt short for the next hospital delivery.  Well, Wilma to the rescue!

Wilma had emailed me to ask if I could use some string blocks, Last week I received 30 string blocks that she had made in RWB.  It didn't take me long to sew them up and get them made into a quilt.

I really do love a good string quilt.  There are just so many wonderful prints in each block.

My friend Janet came over and organized all the fabric.  Then she ...

Many Hands and Many Hearts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

A few posts back, I said I had some exciting news to share.  Well, I am finally ready to reveal it.

When I started making these compassion quilts, I never dreamed it would grow as quickly as it has.  I was expecting to make about a half dozen quilts every few months. But we are now averaging about 40 quilts a month!

So I have decided to go ahead and become official and turn this into a not-for profit organization.  It is going to take some time and will be so much work. But I am ready with the help ...

Lilly and Will Row Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

This Lilly and Will from Bunny Hill fabrics was one of the first lines I bought when I started making quilts which was in 2007 so these fabrics are well-aged. I don't even remember what I bought, but apparently is was a lot because I have made a lot of quilts with it. I really like the combination of pink and brown. The collection also included a blue and brown colorway that I used to make 2 baby

Oh Scrap! : From Leftovers from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Sometimes quilts happen very quickly!

I was actually doing a bit of clean up in the stash and came across a number of autumn-colored big scraps.  Most of them were trimmings from backing.  It was easy to see the quilt hidden in them.

I quickly sketched out a block and got to cutting all those scraps up.
In no time at all I had a finished quilt top.

I was gifted this great angel backing fabric.  The colors are perfect!

I have a new elf to help with quilting.  Laura just got a longarm and is using some of these ...

It’s a Log (Cabin) Jam from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

While I wait for some of the new block drive packages to arrive, I have been working on finishing up the quilts from the log cabin drive.

I have lots to share today!

There were a lot of purple blocks donated.  For this quilt I used the purple and white blocks only.  I always have lots of fun playing with different layouts.

This is the 10th log cabin quilt made from the block drive.

I don't have a lot of purple blocks left - which is a good thing because this purple backing might be the last one I have ...

A Whole Lot of Scrappy from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

My postal carrier sure got a workout this week.  Kat sent me a giant boxed filled with miscellaneous items that weren't appropriate for Covered in Love.  Plus, occasionally, blocks from my block drive accidently go her way.  Ooops! I am sure there will be items I will need to send to her in the future.  We work together a lot!

(BTW - if you haven't heard, Kat has started her block drives up again.)

I also received a box of finished quilts from Sandra in the mail.  Check out this scrappy goodness!

It measures about 48 x 60".

Here ...

Seascape Quilt from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Today I'm sharing the second blue-green quilt in a series of three. Last summer, I started pulling fabrics for a blue-green quilt for a Christmas gift and when I started to take stock of those fabrics, I realized they were busting out of their bins so I went looking for projects that would whittle them down enough to make the lids fit. I figured if I was already pulling all these fabrics, it

Wednesday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been bouncing around finishing the bindings on a huge array of quilts. Some of them have been quilted for a while but I sew the bindings on as I need them.

I am still trying to work my way through all the happy blocks I received in the last block drive. This is happy quilt # 60.  All of the blocks in this top have kind of a rainbow theme.
There is a whole lot of color in this one!

I decided to use a "Boston commons” type layout for this one. Nann had sent me a bunch of ...

Log Cabin Finish #8 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The rain didn't let up today and I didn't have the help of a quilt holder so I will only be sharing one finish today.

I decided to play around with big circles for today's quilt.  I was able to group alike colors in each circle of blocks.  I think this quilt is a lot of fun.

On the back is a lovely paisley wide back fabric that was actually sent in by a bunch of different quilters.  This particular piece came from Cindy.

This quilt measures 55 x 66".

I had to lay this one out ...
